The story of Maher Arar, a Syrian-Canadian who was detained in the United States and subsequently returned to Syria due to the 'threat' that he posed, sheds light on the extraordinary and problematic governmental policies in this "War on Terror."  In particular, the American policy of extraordinary rendition, which extradites suspected terrorists without due process, cannot remain unchallenged.
